NPC WM Faith & Outreach Grant:  “Healing the Hurts”

In September 2006 Eastridge Covenant Church Women’s ministry was awarded a $500. Faith and Outreach Grant from NPC women’s Ministries.

As a result of receiving this grant Eastridge Covenant Women’s Ministry initiated our ministry project. We planned to include quarterly events followed by 6 to 8 week Sunday morning studies.

In order to determine what the needs of our women were, we conducted a survey and put our ministry focus on the top 3 needs expressed which were loneliness, anxiety and depression.

Our first event was titled “Transformations”. We had a speaker for the morning session who is a local counselor that spoke on dealing with our buried pain, in order to allow God to transform us on the “inside”. Then our afternoon session was a complete makeover for one of our women which included a new hairdo and color, make up and the selection of an outfit for her.  It was great fun to see and participate in the “outside” transformation.

We followed this event with a Sunday morning study “Transparency” that focused on building transparent relationships to encourage our women to connect with others in the Body of Christ to try and address the loneliness issue that was expressed on the surveys.

The next event we titled “Divine Design”.  Our speaker was an interior designer who speaks on the correlation of how God makes each of us different and this is reflected in our personal design, likes and dislikes.  She brought out how precious each of us are to God and how this is expressed in our design styles.  She also gave us many great decorating ideas and updated us on all the latest trends.

Our follow up study for this event was a six week study on “Significance”. Getting to know our God in a deeper, richer relationship as we better understand who God is, what role He has in our lives and how very much He loves each of us.  Our prayer for this study was that our women would see God’s great love for each of us and that this would be a comfort to them again addressing the areas of loneliness, anxiety and depression.

We know God is the answer to our deepest needs and we pray as we continue to plan events and studies that the women of Eastridge Covenant Church will become more grounded in God’s Word, therefore know Him better and more fully as we find His answers to our loneliness, anxiety and depression.  Then we can reach out to other women who suffer because they believe the lies this world is telling them.

New AVA Regional Coordinators To Serve You

AVA Regional Conference Coordinators make up the AVA National Leadership Team. The team will help provide direction, set goals and assist in implementing the strategic plan. These coordinators have been equipped to educate clergy and lay leaders at the local level as well as assist churches in the development of their own AVA ministry. Regional Conference Coordinators will conduct educational workshops and seminars on adult and teen domestic violence, and adult survivors of sexual abuse for local churches, Women Ministries groups, and clergy. They will also conduct AVA training for local church Advocates.

InSpirit Magazine is the quarterly denominational WM publication designed to instruct and inspire women in the Covenant. NPC WM provides a WM subscription to NPC plant churches. Subscription Cost: one year $10.00, two years $18.00 US   http://www.covchurch.org/women/inspirit-magazine

Friends of Women Ministries (FOWM)

The Department of Women Ministries of the Covenant Church is supported solely by churches and individual women who partner in the vision of Advancing God's Kingdom Through Women. Here are three different ways to be a Friend of Women Ministries:

  1. A Monthly electronic fund transfer from your bank account for a specified time. As an example, a contribution of $8.50 per month provides Women Ministries with $102 per year. NOTE: Beginning with 2006 Retreat, NPC WM has set a conference-wide goal to complete 100 automatic fund transfers for monthly deductions of $8.50 from new friends of Women Ministries. This goal amount would more than double the current level of funding currently received from all the automatic fund transfers for FOWM. If you complete your AFT form at Retreat, you will receive a free latte, because for many of us $8.50 is the equivalent of 2 1/2 lattes!
  2. A gift of your choice in response to quarterly appeals mailed to you from the Department of Women Ministries.
  3. An annual gift as a member of the Executive Circle, a group of people donating $1,000 or more per year.

Will you partner with us by joining Friends of Women Ministries?  http://www2.covchurch.org/cov/cwm/cwmconnect/friendswm.html

Faith and Outreach Grants

“The Lord will guide you always; He will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings." Isaiah 58: 11-12)

In April 2005, God called NPC WOMEN MINISTRIES to initiate Faith and Outreach Grants to minister to our neighbors with the love of Jesus Christ. Faith and Outreach Grants are for the purpose of providing start-up funds at the local level for new ministries in churches and communities that reach out with the Good News of Jesus Christ and His Amazing Love. This seed grant is designed to launch new ministries, or add a new component to an existing ministry, that reflect the vision of Women Ministries. The vision of WM continues to be focused on equipping and uniting women for the purpose of advancing God’s Kingdom. When we are able to meet practical and spiritual needs in our churches and communities, God’s Kingdom is advanced.

Priority will be given to applications that exhibit clear plans to sustain their ministry beyond the seed grant year. This is a one-time grant, per project, which shall not exceed $500, as funds are available.

The First F&O Grant Award
NPC Women Ministries is pleased to announce that it has approved its first $500 Faith and Outreach Grant for the Children of the Valley After School Program in Mount Vernon, WA. Program Coordinator, Flora Lucatero, stated that Children of the Valley will provide 50 low-income children with free after-school care, academic support, and cultural enrichment activities, while building relationships with the agricultural Hispanic community. Bethany Covenant Church is providing Children of the Valley an operating budget for a partial year, and NPC WM is honored to be a small part of this ministry.
